Well done Ian. The Tolkien tour was excellent. I went with my husband who is a Tolkien fan, and although I have never read the books or seen the films myself, I still found the tour informative and enjoyable. I noticed that the group had an age range of about 9 to 90 and everyone seemed to be having fun. I would definitely recommend going on this tour next time it runs, and I'm certainly going to keep an eye on this site to see what other tours are coming up.

Just spent Friday night in the engaging company of tour guide Michael, who one could easily mistake for a Dickensian Funeral Director. I can't vouch for his knowledge of embalming but his enthusiasm for the town and its stories is infectious. Won't spoil the fun with any snippets-get along and hear them for yourself. Excellent value informative and fun evening

On Sunday, I went on a Tolkien Tour run by Ian Braisby of Midlands Discovery Tours, and I truly LOVED it! I found Ian to be incredibly knowledgeable about Tolkien’s life and its formative links to our fabulous city. Additionally, I learned things I just didn’t know, which has helped me have even more respect for Birmingham as a city.

Ian and Mike were engaging, entertaining and knowledgeable guides. I won’t spoil it for anyone by disclosing any quirky tales but I’m sure even a true Brummie would learn something new. Really considerate, helpful chaps and a recommended tour - I’m looking forward to next one! I ain’t afraid of no ghosts. Customer rating: 5 stars

Standing on a mass grave. The site of a public hanging. The walking ghost of a bobby on the beat. Catacombs at night. A shop front which hides a most hideous crime. Contents of the latest blockbuster horror movie? NO! Just some of the amazing facts we learned about during a ghost walk around Birmingham City Centre. A super evening which culminated in a pint at an atmospheric old pub. Highly recommended for those interested in history, ghosts or simply a very pleasant and different evening out.

Myself and my partner had a really great evening on the ghost walk. It was much more detailed than we had anticipated and we really learned a lot. The two gentlemen conducting the tour were very friendly and made the evening a very exciting yet educational night out. The atmosphere was fantastic and everybody took the evening in the spirit it was meant in (no pun intended 🙂 A definite must do for anyone interested in ghostly stories and the history of our city.
